good stuff on netflix

Ratched

Started last night. Prequel to One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. We meet Nurse Ratchet (played excellently by Sarah Paulson - I've pretty much liked everything I've seen her in) before the events in the book take place. In case you were wondering - she's already a budding psychopath.

Written by Ryan Murphy of American Horror Story fame. You can expect similar photography, & story telling. Only into episode 3 so far but lovin' it.

gave up on this one several episodes in...........

Too much gratuitous violence - same reason I stopped watching American Horror Story.
Too bad - it had promise.

The Gift

Quite good once you give some time to develop. Intriguing story involving an archeological dig, its tie into the main characters life (past/present) & a lot of symbolism.

In Turkish with subtitles in case that bothers you.

The Motel girl is funny and the Mother puts on some funny shit but it was a bit much and the towns people are hysterical.
I checked out.

it’s very good though.

I loved each character. The daugther was hysterical with her over the top exaggerated reactions.
Son - probably the best character. Who dreams up his wardrobe?
Mom - what can you say - she walks around in those outfits like there's nothing extraordinary about them & her voice? Where did she get that voice?
Mayor Schitt? Great character.
Stevie always looks like she ready to crack up.

Altogether a very good & strong ensemble cast.

Deadwind (2 Seasons)

Into episode 7 in the first season & it's great..

Sort of a Nordic Twin Peaks

It's filmed in Finland - so there are subtitles with a few lnguages being used (English, French, German & Finnish/Nordic genres.

I really like it. Give it a whirl.

It sound and looks good but I don't know if I can deal with all the subs and languages.....

LillyHammer was good but jeez, I could not understand so much due to language which leaves you to figure it out.

Its like going to those places and not know WTF is going on half the time.

when in English - no subtitles

I found myself reading along & not even realizing I was reading along - really keeps you engrossed.

finished the Second Season of Deadwind a couple of nights ago - good series - hoping there'll be a Season 3

Now into Season 1 - Episode 5 of Freud.
It's not exactly what you would have expected but pretty darn good. It's dubbed as I believe it's in GErman. Just don't look at the lips......

Freud was very good - I have now moved onto Arrested Development .

Into the second season - love it. Reminds me of that show Soap.

Arrested Development is an American television sitcom created by Mitchell Hurwitz, which originally aired on Fox for three seasons from November 2, 2003, to February 10, 2006. The show follows the Bluths, a formerly wealthy dysfunctional family. It is presented in a serialized format, incorporating handheld camera work, voice-over narration, archival photos, and historical footage. The show maintains numerous running gags and catchphrases. Ron Howard serves as both an executive producer and the omniscient narrator and, in later seasons, appears in the show portraying a fictionalized version of himself. Set in Newport Beach, California, Arrested Development was filmed primarily in Culver City and Marina del Rey.[1]

probably not for me. sick and tired of all the real life dysfunctional families populating the area as it is !

not a documentary & as far as I can tell - has nothing to do with Freud's actual life - about the only thing Freud in it is Freud's in it but nothing to really do with his work - it gets pretty bizarre at times
=========================
In reality, the series is historical fiction. For this reason, there's very little accurate historical, biographical, and academic data. Actually, this series portrays a different reality, reflecting how Freud could've used his psychoanalytic skills to solve crimes.Jun 16, 2020

Freud, The Series: What's Real and What Isn't - Exploring your mind

It's good if not fun, bizarre, suspenseful. A crime drama if you will. Give it a try. You've got nothing to lose.
