good stuff on netflix

The Rain

a somewhat confusing where the hell is this going - and why are they calling it the rain when there was only rain in like the first two episodes & what happened to the rain anyway kinda show.............

It's dubbed.
Filmed in Denmark. I've never seen so many light skined, blonde haired people in one film.

The blow trailer is showing subtitles - what I watched was dubbed. For some strange reason I stayed interested all the way through the first two seasons. If it comes back for a third - I'll probably watch that as well just to see where it's going.

The world as we know it has come to an end, due to a rain-carried virus that wiped out nearly everybody in Scandinavia. Six years after that event, two Danish siblings emerge from the safety of the bunker where they have been staying. After discovering all remnants of civilization gone, they join a group of fellow young survivors, and together they head out on a danger-filled quest throughout the abandoned land in search of signs of life. The survivors think they have been set free from societal rules of the past, but they quickly find that even in a post-apocalyptic world there is love, jealousy and other coming-of-age dilemmas that young people have always faced.

It did have its moments............

Lucifer - Season 5 (supposedly the last one - we'll see)

The Devil owns a night club & solves crimes with the police because he finds Hell boring.

This is a great series. Find it hard to believe it got cancelled off of network TV after 3 seasons. Netflix bought it & produced two more. Hopefully Netflix will keep it going.

Warrior Nun

Yes.
I Know.
How bizarre & stupid could this be? Ninja Nuns?
It's all that & more.
But Yet.
Oddly compelling.

Episode 7 & I'm in.
(y)
Warrior Nun revolves around the story of a 19-year-old woman who wakes up in a morgue with a new lease on life and a divine artifact embedded in her back. She discovers she is now part of the ancient Order of the Cruciform Sword that has been tasked with fighting demons on Earth, and powerful forces representing both heaven and hell want to find and control her.

Warrior Nun is an American fantasy drama web television series created by Simon Barry based on the comic book character Warrior Nun Areala by Ben Dunn.

Originally developed as a feature film adaptation, the idea was re-imagined as a television series for Netflix when the service had given the production a series order for a first season. Filming takes place in multiple locations in Andalusia Spain, such as Antequera,[1] where the headquarters of the fictional Order of the Cruciform Sword was filmed.

The series is narrated and led by Portuguese actress Alba Baptista in the role of Ava Silva, a quadriplegic orphan who discovers she now has supernatural powers which force her to join an ancient order of warrior nuns. The series marks Baptista's English-language debut. The cast also features Toya Turner, Thekla Reuten, Lorena Andrea, Kristina Tonteri-Young and Tristan Ulloa.

The series debuted on July 2, 2020 on Netflix, to generally positive reviews. In August 2020, the series has been renewed for a second season.

In the Dark

Started this the other day. Quite good. Lead played by Perry Mattfeld who does a tremendous job playing a 20 something blind woman. The actress herself is not blind but I had to look that up to confirm it. That's how convincing she is in the role.

An irreverent blind woman in her twenties, Murphy, drifts through life in a drunken haze. She has only two friends—Jess, her understanding roommate, and Tyson, a teenage drug-dealer who saved her from a violent mugging. Out for a walk with her guide dog, Pretzel, she stumbles upon a corpse that must be Tyson's, but it disappears before the police arrive. When they do not seem inclined to investigate, Murphy clings onto the only thing that can keep her together: figuring out what happened to her friend.[1] She resolves to solve the murder herself, while also managing her colorful dating life (she's something of a nymphomaniac) and the job she hates at "Guiding Hope", a school for training guide dogs run by her parents.

Just finished Season 2 of In the Dark - this is a pretty good series - looking forward to the release of Season 3. Reminds me of Breaking Bad only with a female blind lead. A good looking blind lead. (y)

Give this one a whirl & give it time to develop.

After it won all the Emmy's, I gave Schitt's Creek another try. Still can't stand it. The only character I can take is the snarky front desk clerk. Does anyone out there watch it? Is it going to change much over time?

I love it

The Haunting of Hill House

Started this just after Halloween. Good Show. Give it a few episodes tpo develop - gets crankin' during the second half.

I got into "Pine Gap" an Australian espionage type show. For whatever reason Netflix prevented me from starting the fourth episode last night. Probably because of my work background these type of shows are a never miss for me. (Schitts Creek was, but I rarely like sitcoms.)

why would they block you based on your work background?

No, you are reading too much into what I typed. I was in a semi counter-espionage job. That is why I enjoy spy shows.
Netflix is now working properly for us again.

The Haunting of Bly Manor

Confusing, Engaging. Creepy. Great Story Telling. Great Characters. All of that!!

Recommend. Stick with it. It all sort itself out.

Ratched

Started last night. Prequel to One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. We meet Nurse Ratchet (played excellently by Sarah Paulson - I've pretty much liked everything I've seen her in) before the events in the book take place. In case you were wondering - she's already a budding psychopath.

Written by Ryan Murphy of American Horror Story fame. You can expect similar photography, & story telling. Only into episode 3 so far but lovin' it.

Wife is ecstatic. The Crown is back ! The Crown is back. I just finished Pine Gap and was about to start Secret City tomorrow, but we will binge The Crown instead. and some of our broadcast shows return this week as well.
