good stuff on netflix

Its very Dry and Wildly good.

I love it and love how he ( Ricky Gervais) recycles characters ( from Derek ) flawlessly without a bump.

thanks for the suggestion - took me a couple of episodes to sink into it - but it's a great story & yes Gervais does a terrific job - writing, directing, starring - I'm onto the 3rd Season & hoping for a 4th

the Five

Into episode 9 of the first season of this British crime drama/thriller with enough twists & turns to keep you engaged. Give it a whirl if British & Irish accents don't both you.

In 1995, four young school friends, Mark, Danny, Slade and Pru are left traumatized after Mark's five-year-old brother Jesse disappears after playing in the park with them. No trace of Jesse has ever been found. Serial killer Jakob Marosi, who had been charged with five other murders, claimed that he killed Jesse. Jesse's parents, Julie and Alan, had given up all hope of ever finding the boy alive.

Twenty years on, Danny Kenwood is a Detective Sergeant working for Westbridge Police. When he attends the scene of a murder, he finds prostitute Annie Green, who has been brutally attacked with a hammer. A forensic analysis of DNA evidence from the crime scene provides a match for Jesse's DNA. An intricate web of trials and tribulations begins to unfold as the four childhood friends re-unite in the hope of finding Jesse alive.

Marcella - Season 3

Just finished up Season 3 last night. Good Series. Bit confusing. But in a good way. Warning: British, Irish & mostly Scot accents (which at times sounded Welsh to me).

Twists galore,
Good Story.

Enjoyed all 3 seasons...................

The Sinner

Very Good. 3 Seasons - mostly through Season .
Terrific acting by Jessica Biel. Never really thought that much of her as an actress but nailing it here. Strong support coming from Bill Pullman as a slightly intense & creepy Detective who is more or less on her side.

First season is the best. third one suspenseful. Never realized I could have saved myself from FF through commercials on the DVR or put up with them first run on so many shows I watched that are now on Netflix !

so each season is a different story & different character? Just started Season 2 thinking it was a continuation of Season 1 & nope.

Dark - Season 3 - Episode 7

And dark it is...........
Very Germanic melodrama (dubbed in English - just don't look at the lips when they are speaking) regarding 6 or so (maybe as many as 12) characters with a time travel theme.
Very Foreboding.
Very Dark.
Very Ominous.
Very Creepy.
Very Threatening End of Days Dialogue.

With a very dark, foreboding, ominous, creepy, & threatening end of days soundtrack to accompany it. Took me until Season 3 to realize it was/might be some sort of rewrite on the Adam & Eve story (at least I think that's what it is).

With all of the characters bouncing back & forth between different pasts, presents, futures & physical ages it does become somewhat hard to follow & figure out exactly whats going on.

There are multiple worlds all co-existing at the same time but not necessarily in the same "when" but they do interconnect. Hard to explain,

But I like it. It's kept me viewing for nearly 3 seasons so far.

Reminds me of a book I read oh 40 years ago called The Education of Over Soul # 7. Multiple probable pasts, presents & futures each with it's own past, present & future existing all at the same time.

So if you like Foreboding, Dark, Ominous, Creepy & Threatening End of Days . Dubbed Germanic based stories wrapped up in a time travel theme (I think) with Foreboding, Dark, Ominous, Creepy & Threatening End of Days music - this ones for you.

Just pay attention.
8-)

noticed that while she doesn't appear on the screen in the second season - Jessica Biel is listed as Executive Producer

Into the Night - Season 1

Started this last night. Initially thought - nah. This is gonna be a weak The Langoliers. People on a plane trying to out race doom. This time doom coming in the form of the Sun which seems to be killing all life on the planet if exposed to it. Microwaving everything.

They never tell you why it's decided to turn the earth's inhabitants into basically a bowl of Orville Redenbacher but some how NATO knows about. Perhaps more is to come on that as the series develops.

This is how Netflix describes it:
Passengers and crew aboard a hijacked overnight flight scramble to outrace the sun as a mysterious cosmic event wreaks havoc on the world below.

By the end of the second or third episode it rapidly becomes more then that & I was hooked. Kept me watching all the way to episode 7 last night. Fast paced as our heroes jump from one disaster to another. Including but not limited to taking on-board 3 soldiers wanted for murder & rape of course not knowing they are wanted for murder & rape. They just thought they were stranded soldiers.

Give it a try.
Warning: multilingual in English, whatever language they speak in Belgium (I think French), some Arabic, some Russian. Subtitles whenever not speaking English but after awhile you don't notice it.
