How is the fishing in the Long Island Sound?

I went out yesterday. I shouldn’t have, as there were small craft warnings. It was about as rough as I have been out with waves over 3 feet and mixed waves. We were the ONLY boat in the lot. Even the big 62-foot Osprey and Celtic Quest did not go out. I decided not to go for blackfish as I would have had to go way out to Middle Grounds. We went for Porgy and Black sea bass. My cousin used clam and I used snap jigging with the Captains John Paduano Bucktails. I did a little better. Now we might try blackfish. I'll pick a nicer day. Any posts Black fishing with jigs??
I have always done conventional and it is time to try something new. Any posts or articles on size or color and "how to", please let me know. Or just share here. :)

I went out Monday and Tuesday. Caught a few undersized blackfish and a few (what I think were) oyster toad fish. The weather is getting cold. I think I will hang it up for the season.

Going to try tomorrow for some of the bruisers now that the water temp. dropped a bit. They like that ! WHO LET THE TOGS OUT!!?
My friends buddy caught this just the other day from shore in our area.

Right, I was think the same thing. I busted this 25” 12 pounder out of a hole that shredded a 60# flouro carbon leader near the same area yesterday.

Yesterday might have been my last day of the season. Birds, bass and still a few tog in 38', even if my first 4 drops at 50' plus were pretty bleak. Fished Manhasset Bay to Rye. Great day to be out on the water, even if the image on my Garmin was acting up.
