We hit a pause, but have renewed interest for a SC place. And I would definitely put one down there too.

We took a serious look at at South Carolina for a 2nd home winter getaway. In particular, PawleysIsland, and Pawlys Plantation & Country Club. We made several multiple day trips and spent some time there. It’s a beautiful development, in a beautiful area. Two turnoffs……. S.C. has a State income tax, and the winters can, & do get cold. Sometimes, very cold.

Actually looked NC, notably Calabash, at one time. We looked at Little River, North Myrtle, then looked further south to Murrells Inlet and Pawley's island.

Your choice, but don't let the tax tail wag the dog! I looked at all costs including taxes and did the comparison thing and sometimes "globally" that number is still lower than a "no tax" state. NY is obscene on TAXES and LIVING. It is always worth a look.
