When you do not have the cash to brak out another $10,000 :), you go smaller and cheaper.

She's a beauty Matt!
Thanks George, I’ll be heading down to Sunny Florida for the season in about a month. This boat however won’t be coming along. Last year I think I used the 31’ Steiger about 6-7 times in 6 months. The wind in the Gulf is relentless in the winter. Couple that with the cost of bringing her back and forth, plus another $800 a month for a marina, and it’s just not worth it. The 6 months I’m in NY she will get a lot more use.

Let’s try and get together down south this winter.

Looking better all the time,.Matt
With a month to go before your southern migration, I assume you will make at least one Tog trip. After all, you need to enjoy the fruits of all that labor!:D

Hopefully will get a trip or two in this year. Between bringing her back to Al Grover ‘s for the barrier coating, and heading down to fish the Dry Tortuga’s for several days the time will be flying by.

Toying with the idea of a 2nd boat that I could just keep in FL year round. I spoke with the guy selling this one several times. She’s a 1988, 28’ and it’s the original owners and has been well cared for, according to the guy who takes care of it for the owners, including a repower. In need of some updates electronics. I might have to take a trip down to the Carolina’s. The tower up top is great for spotting Triple Tails around the crab pots.

hey Matt. of course you should have a boat down south. why just have one headache (the boat) when you can have two headaches(two boats). every time someone comments on the fact that I have two-i just roll my eyes while thinking about all the expense and "boat owner anxiety"!

LOL, I must be losing my mind to even be considering this. I haven’t even used, nor completed the work I want to do on vessel # 1.

Nah, get the second. Florida is a great place for a boat!

We hit a pause, but have renewed interest for a SC place. And I would definitely put one down there too.
We took a serious look at at South Carolina for a 2nd home winter getaway. In particular, PawleysIsland, and Pawlys Plantation & Country Club. We made several multiple day trips and spent some time there. It’s a beautiful development, in a beautiful area. Two turnoffs……. S.C. has a State income tax, and the winters can, & do get cold. Sometimes, very cold.

That looks really great!

Actually looked NC, notably Calabash, at one time. We looked at Little River, North Myrtle, then looked further south to Murrells Inlet and Pawley's island.

Your choice, but don't let the tax tail wag the dog! I looked at all costs including taxes and did the comparison thing and sometimes "globally" that number is still lower than a "no tax" state. NY is obscene on TAXES and LIVING. It is always worth a look.

Well, that’s a wrap for 2025. I didn’t really get a chance to enjoy the boat this year. Since I purchased her it has been one upgrade after another. First time I’m seeing the new barrier coated and painted bottom.

Off to Sunny Florida this weekend.
