Went to the boat show last night since I'm in the market for a new motor. Crazy prices for new boats sure glad I own one already. Spoke with Bill from Alberston Marine who is going to inspect the transom and stringers (poke a moisture meter here and there) to make sure my ride is ready to handle a new motor before I buy.

Grab the current motor down by the prop , try and flex the transom by moving the outboard up and down , that will tell you a lot .... Look for cracks on the deck seam on the transom and on the sides of the transom ...............

^^ Thanks Scupper. I've done the transom test with the motor and there is no flex so I was happy about that. There are also no cracks on the deck seam or sides of the the transom. I do have a thin small crack running across the forward deck but there is no bounce in the deck even when I jump. That is an area that will be looked at closely hopefully it's just a fiberglass issue. I appreciate the input.
