Sailed with Chef Ken and Capt. Mike this morning to my offshore home away from home. A calm ocean with a slight SSE breeze that was just enough to cancel the outgoing tide - hence we were going nowhere fast. Got out the spinner and quickly donated 4 of my prized custom ball heads, which wasn't much fun at all.

Ken banged a 5lb fish right off, jigging straight up and down with a 2oz bucktail and so we thought it was gonna be an easy day. Not so. We moved here and there thru the morning, and though we pulled an occasional fish, most were not for the box. Except for Ken. He was doing a very good job of carrying Mike and I.

Only had 4 in the box (I believe all by Ken) by the tide change at 2 PM, and we agreed to stay out one more hour to fish the first of the incoming. Had to put on the 4's and 5's in the strengthening breeze, but hanging on the grounds a little longer was a solid decision that raised our final count to 7 very decent boxers for the day. Not what we had hoped for, but from what we saw out there, I think that is a respectable score, given the conditions we had to deal with.

And oh yeah, the boat next to us pulled a 20lb+ Cobia, the landing of which was truly entertaining. Let's leave it at that . . .

You sure are the master! My wife saw that and began to tell me how I needed to get my filleting organized like Pete! I do think she knows better by now. It's not going to happen!

For some reason the video seems to play fine on my PC, but not on a cell phone. Its a regular old MP4 recording, so I have no clue why this is so.

I've tried .mov, .avi and mp4 file formats and none seemed to work properly on my cell phone. Yet the native format of this movie is .mov. Plays fine on my iPhone from its own memory. Also, I was able to upload it to the NYAnger page on Facebook and view it there on my phone, so I have no idea why cell phones have an issue with it when downloading from this site. Guessing maybe the file size is too large?

Phenomal fishing in the bay today! New body of Big fish moved in. 24 25 27 inch fish caught less than 10 minutes from a certain guys Shamrock. All fish on 1/2 oz jig and 6” sapphire shine jerk shad

Super! Did you throw a couple in that Shamrock’s cooler for a certain hard-working moderator?

Seriously, a friend got a 27" fish in the Bay (just a bit west of me) this past weekend. So sounds like you're right about the Bay giving up some quality fish right now.

Fine Friday Foggy Fluking &Thumbs-up on Gulp! "Baitfish"

Hit the Ocean early this morning with Jakesdad and crew. We got about half a mile offshore and the fog hit us suddenly, forcing us to turn around and fish the river for a while. The action was constant and we never did go back outside even when visibility improved.
Getting our NJ overs was easy but the slots were harder to come by, plenty of shorts though.
I finally used a new (for me) Gulp offering that flutters nicely but is too flat to thread on a jig. It's called Baitfish and it goes on the Teaser like you hook a spearing, thru the eyes. Pink fuse was hot!

Few trips last week was slow fishing in moriches bay. My son always manages to get a keeper and high hook though ( wouldn’t have it any other way) we also had his 3 year old cousin out for his first trip and he was able to land a few fish with help of his dad.

Some bait ( small spearing has showed up in the bay finally, usually it starts to pickup again around this week)
