The Onancock Chronicles the Eastern shore

gotta remember - you'll have to be moving your car well ahead of any projected strom & get everything else "above board" - what's the wife's take on that? Could be an issue.

You can find Zone B's that may still be on the water - finance guy's house (farm) is on a creek that feeds into the Onancok Creek & eventually the Bay. He doesn't have a "Bay View) but he does have a waterview.

How about we keep that kind of info just between you and me ......

;)

We considered water front and decided against it (bugs and flooding). The biggest green flies I've ever seen were on seaside I think they dented the car. Our property is minutes from Onancock Creek and should a hurricane hit our elevation is 38ft so we might have visitors during a big storm. Good luck with your search Capt.

SS - not much need for hurricane fears - from what I'm told - last hurricane of any significance was 40 years ago - that from a neighbor who's lived in her house on my block for the last 60 years or so. Was wondering whether I needed flood insurance or not & got to talking to her about it. I forget the year but next time you're down & going into Mallards on the Wharf - check out the door frame on the left as you go into the dining room - shows where the high tide was that year - about chest high as I recall,

lotta storms seem to do that - or peter out crossing the Chesapeake - Hurricanes seem to hit the Outer Banks & either bounce back out to sea or move inland across NC - thank goodness - this here little Peninsula is only 5 to 10 miles wide at a lot of points...

much narrower than Long Island

hey Captain - when you told me where the property was that you were looking at & what name of the rea was - it stuck a bell - I pass this historical marker pretty much everyday or more

Notice the last name of the Governor?

We looked at Wise's Point was very tempting. I used to do the Triathlon at Crystal Beach that Mike Murphy held in the early 2000's. That was a fun race and good party.

We spent 2 days looking at property last week. The one I thought I was going to purchase was shot down instantly by my wife. She got out of the truck, walked to the water (marsh) edge, turned around shaking her head with a resounding "no way". Another one that we both liked had went to contract the day we looked at it. Explored from Cape Charles to Onancock. The area I liked best was two creeks north of Cape Charles .... Machipungo. .
