Hey Wader, on another thread you mentioned there was no way you would kayak due to the US Navy and other large ships plying the Bay. But what about amongst all those islands just off the EASTERN shore (ocean side) of the eastern shore ?
Wader's been AWOL for a couple of days. Has anyone heard from him?
among the Barrier Islands would be a really nice place to kayak if one where into kayaking....
Was taking something of a poetic license with the Bay side - as John said - kayaker's dream - I'm just not into kayaking having done 10 years in the Nissequogue River in a canoe.
Although - my brother did get me thinking about it again after I sold the boat. They actually have a winery tour along the Bay involving kayaks. Leaves from Onancock Creek & pulls in at the local winery(s). Doesn't sound real safe to me - but what the hey. You only live once.

Now that's something I'm looking forward to getting involved in !![]()

My canoe is a 12 footer but with a 40 inch beam so stability was never an issue. Haven't used it in a decade and unlike my always garaged kayaks its relegated to under the deck. I haven't flipped yet in a yak and feel they are a bit safer than canoes. I am also not a spring chicken, going on 68.
