Coronavirus

While I see your point I think whatever inconsistency you feel I stated is overshadowed by what MTB indicated, people in high risk, old age, etc. are going to die anyway, vaccinated or not. Please take care of your hypertension, emphysema, obesity or whatever you have so that we can continue to be inspired by your posts.
That is the exact inconsistency

old ppl and ppl with conditions will die anyway.

why is it ok that they die in great numbers from or “ with” the vaccine
But not “ with” covid

and we still a year and a half later still don’t have near enough information on exactly how many ppl have had covid and how many died prematurely from covid
Not with covid

at least a few months ago we had a fearless idiot as a leader
Now we’ve got a feckless puppet

as much as I hate to say it
The idiot was better

The NFL took a bold stance regarding player vaccination. Im curious what schools will be requiring in the fall.

While I'm a BIG proponent of getting vaccinated, I'm an even bigger proponent for the right to choose ones own course however controversial or pigheaded I might think of it!

Whatever happened to "management reserves the right to refuse service?" IIRC, anti-discrimination laws only kick in if a protected class is denied. If a private school or cruise line or chinese takeout joint or restaurant(until seated) requires masking regardless of vaccination, mask up or go elsewhere. If a cruise line requires vaccinations (Florida be damned) get vaccinated or take a different boat. IMHO once 50% of the populace got vaccinated privately owned businesses can and should dictate their requirements for vaxxed and non-vaxxed. Still waiting to hear what Viking will say about our 2022 cruise that we had to postpone. I know if we will be required to wear a mask we will be postponing it again. Just got back from ShopRite. I would say its down to about 50% and less wearing masks. (some should wear them even if there was no virus.) Sign only says masks are recommended for the vaxxed. My guess is that the older people and the few younger ones wearing masks are afraid of either dying (and the look and walk of them indicated to me that would be sooner rather than later) or the shot itself.

And I guess that is the rub
Different ppl have a different tolerance for risk , and different views on who should and how to mitigate a perceived risk
Such is life in the land of the free and home of the brave

I’d you’d like someone to manage your life and risk may I suggest maybe
China

The way I see this is
If you don’t simply get on with living and you hang on every little percentage , blip and risk this will never be over for that segment of the population
Sad but true
RIGHT ...WE HAVE THE EXTREME ANTI VAXXERS IN FEAR AND THE extreme I don't want covid living in fear....so we have a chit show

Got screwed last flight
Wasn’t prepared for the onslaught of maskholes

prepared this time
Large btl of water and 2 beef jerky
Everyone knows you can’t pass a germ though water and dried beef

Deaths of COVID-19 vaccine recipients double, CDC say

What I get from it is if VAERS doesn’t fit the narrative we look until we find one that does. In this case we jump to the CDC’s “It Just Can’t Be, Must Be Something Else”.
Well I don't know where the BL got those numbers, or even what The BL is for that matter. Haven't seen any scientific nor medical publications from them.

Here's what The BIL reported:

The figure now stands at 12,313 deaths, doubling the less than 6,000 reported seven days ago, according to the July 19 update, which makes no mention of the more than 100 percent increase in such a short time.

And here's what I got doing a VAERS Database Search on US, COVID19 Vaccinations, All Doses, Death and the number of deaths of 4,412 is what popped up for the entire time of COVID vaccinations.

Most unvaccinated Americans say they still won’t get COVID-19 shots, poll finds

Most Americans who haven’t been vaccinated against COVID-19 say they are unlikely to get the shots and doubt they would work against the aggressive delta variant despite evidence they do, according to a new poll that underscores the challenges facing public health officials amid soaring infections in some states.

Among American adults who have not yet received a vaccine, 35% say they probably will not, and 45% say they definitely will not, according to a poll from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research. Just 3% say they definitely will get the shots, though another 16% say they probably will.

What’s more, 64% of unvaccinated Americans have little to no confidence the shots are effective against variants — including the delta variant that officials say is responsible for 83% of new cases in the U.S. — despite evidence that they offer strong protection. In contrast, 86% of those who have already been vaccinated have at least some confidence that the vaccines will work.

That means “that there will be more preventable cases, more preventable hospitalizations and more preventable deaths,” said Dr. Amesh Adalja, an infectious disease specialist at Johns Hopkins University.

“We always knew some proportion of the population would be difficult to persuade no matter what the data showed, (and) a lot of people are beyond persuasion,” said Adalja. He echoed Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Rochelle Walensky in calling the current surge “a pandemic of the unvaccinated” because nearly all hospital admissions and deaths have been among those who weren’t immunized.

The AP-NORC survey was conducted before several Republicans and conservative cable news personalities this week urged people to get vaccinated after months of stoking hesitancy. That effort comes as COVID-19 cases nearly tripled in the U.S. over the past two weeks.

Nationally, 56.4% of all Americans, including children, have received at least one dose of the vaccine, according to the CDC. And White House officials said Thursday that vaccinations are beginning to increase in some states where rates are lagging behind and COVID-19 cases are rising, including in Arkansas, Florida, Louisiana, Missouri and Nevada.

Still, just over 40% of Louisiana’s population has received at least one dose, and the state reported 5,388 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday — the third-highest single-day figure since the pandemic began. Hospitalizations also rose steeply in the last month.

The AP-NORC survey found that the majority of Americans — 54% — are at least somewhat concerned that they or someone in their family will be infected, including 27% who are very concerned. That’s up slightly from a month ago, but far below the beginning of the year, when about 7 in 10 Americans said they were at least somewhat concerned that they or someone they knew would be infected.

Democrats are far more likely than Republicans to say they’re at least somewhat concerned about someone close to them being infected, 70% to 38%.

And overall, Republicans are far more likely than Democrats to say they have not been vaccinated and definitely or probably won’t be, 43% to 10%. Views are also divided along age and education lines: Thirty-seven percent of those under age 45 say they haven’t and likely won’t get the shots, compared with just 16% of those older. And those without college degrees are more likely than those with them to say they aren’t and won’t be vaccinated, 30% to 18%.

Cody Johansen, who lives near Orlando, Florida, considers himself a conservative Republican, but said that had no bearing on his decision to skip vaccination.

“It hasn’t really been that dangerous to people in my demographic, and I have a good immune system,” said Johansen, a 26-year-old who installs audio-visual equipment at military bases. “Most of my friends got vaccinated, and they’re a little mad at me for not getting it. There is peer pressure because they say it’s a civic responsibility.”

He said it’s obvious the shots have been effective, though it bothers him a little that they have only emergency use authorization from the Food and Drug Administration.

Johansen said he approves of how President Joe Biden has handled the pandemic response, saying he has exhibited good leadership.

That reflects the poll’s findings. A large majority of Americans, 66%, continue to approve of how Biden is handling the pandemic — higher than Biden’s overall approval rating of 59%.

The difference is fueled largely by Republicans, 32% of whom say they approve of Biden’s handling of COVID-19 compared with 15% who approve of him overall. About 9 in 10 Democrats approve of Biden overall and for his handling of the pandemic.

Jessie McMasters, an aerospace engineer who lives near Rockford, Illinois, said she got her first shot when she was 37 weeks pregnant after talking with her midwife and reading about how the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines were developed.

“That gave me high confidence that they worked,” said McMasters. Her parents both were infected but did not suffer serious illness, and both have since been vaccinated.

She said her friends and family are all over the place when it comes to their views on vaccination and other virus-prevention measures — often reflecting how such discussions have become partisan. Some who got it are “so far on one end that they may never give up masks because now it’s a personal statement,” said McMasters, who leans Democratic, just as others won’t get the shots because of their political beliefs or misinformation.

Dr. Howard Koh, a professor at the Harvard Chan School of Public Health, said vaccine hesitancy is not new, but the misinformation surrounding COVID-19 and the fast-spreading variant make it imperative to reach people one-on-one to understand their concerns and provide accurate information.

He called the new surge in infections and deaths “just heartbreaking.”

“What I learned from my patients is that when a loved one dies, that’s a tragedy,” said Koh, who was a senior public health official in the Obama administration. “But when a loved one dies and you know it could have been prevented, that tragedy haunts you forever.”

Someone will let you know when this is the actual plague

If your looking for the plague this ain’t it
Considering the level of medical care, knowledge and pharmaceuticals in this country....and we STILL cant prevent some severe illness and death.....I would say that Covid qualifies as a plague.

But wait......Didn't someone who is smarter than the rest of us claim that ALL pandemics run their course?????

I guess the Anti Vaxers are counting on that......................Good luck.

Look at it this way.
Imagine there is 99.8 chance that you won’t get cancer but you are forced to get chemo anyway.
Now your vaccine is 88% effective and next strain it’s less. Say 4,000 is the death total for the vaccine. That’s an astronomical amount compared to what amount pulls a vaccine off the market. However no repercussions you signed a waiver so still good to go.
Sad reasons to get something that just isn’t approved as safe yet.

Along those lines..........Imagine you are a 30 year old woman with an extensive family history of breast cancer. Its not a matter of if you will get it but when. You can opt for a double mastectomy which exponentially reduces your risk of cancer and thus dying.....radical as it is, many women are now choosing this route.

Who doesn't want to reduce their risk of sickness and possibly dying?.....well....apparently you!

BTW, last I checked, no one is FORCING people to get vaccinated!

Au contrair'....

You can take a look at Europe..vax passports to get into shops, concerts, workplaces, restaurants, supermarkets etc.... While the vax is not explicitly required..... yet....it is becoming a defacto standard to participate in every day society. You can find videos of people protesting this across Europe.
You can look at NYC Investment Banks, such as Morgan Stanley..all employees, vendors, clients etc.. who go into their building must be fully vaccinated. This is just the beginning.

CNN continued its wall to wall broadcasts calling for unvaccinated people to be punished, with analysts again calling for those who haven’t gotten the COVID shots to be segregated from society and forced to pay for tests every single day.

First up was CNN’s resident medical health “expert” Dr. Leana Wen who called for vaccine passports and forever masking.

“I think it depends on the circumstance,” Wen said, explaining “So if you’re going to the grocery store, and the grocery store doesn’t have the capacity to enforce some kind of proof of vaccination, then they have to say that indoor masking needs to apply, because we don’t know who’s vaccinated and who’s not.
“The same thing for schools,” Wen continued, adding “Schools, you can’t expect the teacher in every school to be asking ‘well you’re not wearing a mask so are you vaccinated or not?’ And so that’s the case, everyone should be wearing masks.”
“But I can imagine there are already concert venues or workplaces that are saying ‘if you are not vaccinated, you can’t come, or you have to get a negative test.’ And that’s what’s needed in order to really incentivize vaccines at this point,” Wen further stated.
Watch:

Wen previously suggested that life should be made as difficult as possible for those who are still opting not to take the shots, and that Americans should be banned from engaging in social events and forced to undergo PCR tests twice a week if they want to stay unvaccinated. She also previously advocated directly linking the amount of freedom Americans should be allowed to their vaccination status.

Next up on CNN, which should probably be renamed VNN, was Former White House senior COVID-19 adviser Andy Slavitt who proclaimed that the Biden administration should become “very aggressive” and force unvaccinated workers and students to take daily tests and to cover the costs themselves.

“We should be really seriously considering whether schools, workplaces, government agencies ought to be saying, ‘Hey, if you’re coming here, you need to be vaccinated. If you’re not, you need to show you have a negative test every single day,” Slavitt declared.

He continued, “Look, if people say they don’t want to be vaccinated, which some people might say, I think it’s perfectly reasonable to say that’s fine. We want you to show up every morning an hour before work and get a negative test. Maybe even at your own expense. Until the point where people will say, you know what? It makes more sense to actually get vaccinated. If you give people that option, I think you’re going to see more and more people take the option to get vaccinated.”

“Option.” Right.

In other words, force people to take vaccines by crippling them financially and ostracising them from society.

The latest VNN ravings come on the heels of a leaked internal email from CNN’s Washington bureau chief complaining that the “carrot” is no longer working in terms of convincing Americans to get vaccinated and that authorities need to start using the “stick.”
