Firewood

Today
Sunny, with a high near 58. West wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.
Tonight
Mostly clear, with a low around 39. West wind 6 to 9 mph.

Wow! It's early to be seeing these temperatures around here.

That's more like December temps. Maybe be firing her up tonight.

Sitting inside with the stove cranking and seeing its 36 outside without the wind chill and a toasty 75 inside??
Makes all the back busting work worthwhile to not be burning oil at the current price?

But you know this state's leaders want you to stop doing that because carbon footprint, right?

Just a shadow behind the stove. The stove is 9" off the wall and the double wall pipe is 11". This is a Quadra Fire Discovery I and is the easiest starting stove I've ever had in 40 yrs of burning wood.
That’s awesome!
I wasn’t aware that that’s enough clearance?
Must have great draft and be very efficient

The stove has a heat shield in the back and the double walled pipe cuts the clearance. All to code no fooling around with any of my stoves. The stove (its a non cat) is quite efficient and qualifies for the federal tax credit.

I wouldn’t think you were cutting corners and I hope you didn’t think I was questioning that in any way. It was was about my own curiosity and interest ??
From what I’m told, the cat stoves are more work and require bringing them to and maintaining a specific temperature for maximum efficiency

Nope we're on the same page. I had two cat stoves and definitely more babysitting involved. 25o down here you guys must be in the teen. Happy Thanksgiving.

I'm in the new house which has well water (softener and carbon filtered) and a propane gas cooking stove. A few weeks ago I started using the humidifier 24/7 as our humidity was dipping below 40%. After the humidifier was on a day we noticed the gas stove flame was no longer blue but orange. After much investigation (and initial CO worries) it turns out it's the minerals in our well water that is causing the orange flame. Who knew? So we now run the humidifier over night and keep it off during the day. A balmy 26o this morning on the Eastern Shore.
