1996 Privateer Renegade I/O to Outboard Conversion

Sanding primer today ....... found a few more spots that I could add more fairing to. I'm doing my best to accept that its good enough. It helps when I think of all the dings I'll eventually put into the finish myself.
I finally made a decision and put a deposit down on the 300 Zuke. I'm going to trailer the boat down to the Eastern Shore to have the engine installed at Sandpiper Marine.

Being a perfectionist has it draw backs, I am the same way, I like things perfect when people around me say, good enough, or who's gonna notice, I am say's I.
But, I've come to be a little more accepting and I'm not doing things 2 to 4 times over just to get it perfect, like you said, all the dings and scrapes you and other people will make will drive you nuts, get it done, get it in the water and just enjoy it.

First coat of paint on the transom! I have been using Interlux Perfection for about 12 years now. It is an amazing 2 part polyurethane! The gloss is awesome. It does go on thin and it looks like I'm going to need three coats to cover.

Yes. The original rub rail was oversized. I have a new taco rub rail on order. The old one was thru-bolted and I still have a piece on the starboard side that needs to be removed. All the old holes are going to need to be filled. Probably around 40 of them. I'm thinking of adding a layer of 4oz cloth down the length of the gunnel to make fairing the holes easier.

I was wrong about the number of holes .... it was closer to 100 ! Got the rest of the rub rail off. Many of the bolts had to be cut with the dremel. All holes were filled with thickened epoxy. I do have a bit of work ahead of me between the 5200 and stress cracks in the gel coat.

I was able to get about 95% of it off with the multi tool. The remainder was still a bear, yes! found myself having to use the edge of the disc to get it off. Tough stuff !!

No, not going to close it in. I am going to put some side curtains (sunbrella and eisenglass) together so they can be rolled up or removed.

Making the push to get ready for hanging the motor. Three coats of perfection on the transom and was able to bolt on the bracket. Its been hot and it was tough to prevent the sweat dripping off my head from hitting the areas I was painting !
