I have been out and about and cannot ever remember seeing anyone WITHOUT a mask. Seems like even more people are getting out of their cars with masks on before they even get close to the store!and I am and will remain in the other group. Wonder which group will have more fatalities and lingering physical symptoms and brain fog ( ? ) Once I get vaccinated I really do not give a rat's ass with what the deniers do and how many croak. But so long as they can go to bars and keep their businesses open ( or provide them to their descendants in a will ) I guess they don't care either.
Just went to a doctor's office, a bank, Copaigue Home Depot and never saw a person without a mask. Going to finally use some old gift cards at Red Lobster (for takeout) later. Doubt I see any deniers there either.
I am sure you are so proud of yourself. My hero!Just took a nice madkless stroll through the Patchogue home depot
need a few items and was interested to see if that homedepot was any more concerned than the Brooklyn locations
happy to report
Nope
not a peep or raised eye brow
The municipalities are calling the shots on school open or closed not the Unions. though the unions are demanding safety pre-cautions naturally.Well let's start with the teachers union and get those children back into our schools!! Sorry to say, but it has "never been about the children". And still isn't. And in its current form it never will be. Otherwise they could have stepped up in a time of need. Like doctors, nurse, etc.
Certain fields will have a diminished "pool" of workers. Honestly, hope that for my daughter. It will increase her salary faster than her old father!
Someone here mentioned it, by the time my number is called, millions will be vaccinated so there will be more data regarding side effects etc.
thank you for sharing......I'm in a unique boat. I am a 48 years old divorced parent of a 7 year old, whom I have 50/50 custody with her mom. So my daughter is with me half time. She attends her 2nd grade onsite at school. She hates the masks and plexiglass dividers but gets thru it. Math was a challenge this fall for her after being locked down in the spring and forgetting the basics, but we have gotten that subject grades up this semester through making sure she studies with me at night. She got all 3's and 4's on her report card this week...math a little lower average 2.5'ish. So proud (3 is meets expectation and 4 is exceeds)
I was working in NYC for the past 10+ years at various management and technology consultancies. When the divorce was finalized and I retained custody of my daughter, it was brutal to commute 3 hours each day back and forth to NYC and still take care of my daughter. So I made a decision to leave that city work behind and start my own consulting business from the house, so I can take care of my daughter and try to make a living. Albeit, less than the full time NYC job, but I was ok with that because raising my daughter is more important.
For me, I have been one to fall thru the cracks completely: Covid hits and my income has nose dived faster than a giant squid getting hunted by a whale. I'm pretty much a sole proprietor, no employees, so no PPP funds...cant claim unemployment either.....so i grind it out every day and do the best i can trying to find additional clients and work. Still have the house and food on the table.
In terms of Covid Impact on people:
My older sister is a middle school teacher in South Carolina, she also teaches ESL. She told me the kids in her school have been going through mass anxiety and depression over lockdowns and there is a surge in kids needing special counseling.
On a personal note: and I am somewhat reluctant to share, but here it goes:
My brother little past away in May 2020. He was 33. He had a history of drug addiction, but was sober for the last 2 years, got a good job working construction on LI, was engaged and just moved in with his girl right before Covid hit in March 2020. He was always a nervous guy when it came to viruses and stuff. In fact, if he saw a pimple on his ass he used to think it might be cancer or something. LOL. Nervous Nellie for sure.
Anyway, he got laid of from his job in March, went thru depression, picked up the shit again (after 2 years sober) and died of an OD on May 25th. 2 months start to finish. Not covids fault, and his destiny for sure, but a catalyst.
My brothers fate is only one of many who have or are going through these terrible times.
So when we all talk about science and lockdowns and other shit, keep in mind everyone has a story and a perspective.
I will keep up "the good fight" for my daughter and my mom.

A little different as I speak with folks, but whatever you would like to believe. The municipalities are calling the shots on school open or closed not the Unions. though the unions are demanding safety pre-cautions naturally.
Grade schools are OPEN in NYC and my kid goes in every day to teach...where as middle schools and high schools are closed......so that is all about allowing people with small children to go to work and send the little ones to school (baby sitting) It's screwed up but sort of necessary
nothing to do with what I believe...it's what's happening!! It is the mostly union people that have been working daily including me...and cops (my son in law caught covid at his precinct) firemen..... transit workers....grocery workers and so on. To question unions looking out for the safety of their workers while everyone else if home on zoom is ridiculous.A little different as I speak with folks, but whatever you would like to believe.
