The Onancock Chronicles the Eastern shore

When I go out fishing on Sunday of a major holiday weekend, Memorial Day, Labor Day, July 4, etc., I'm usually the ONLY boat fishing within visual range and since it's a summer Sunday, there aren't even lobster boats out.

I took me a while to understand this new reality, but I'm loving it!!

Nah, my old "Lawnguyland" friends wouldn't believe one tenth of what I said in the best case. In the worst case they'd believe it and head up here, turning Route-1 into the LIE North. I could have retired anywhere along the striped bass' migration, which was my only requirement. I chose the state that allowed me to catch striped bass during the evening cocktail hour while sipping a single malt on my dock.

A Downeast mass migration of "Massholes" and "Lawnguylanders" would only ruin the tranquil solitude of summer mornings like this:

Awesome

No Sh*T? You catch bass off off your dock while sipping your evening cocktails??
I don't blame you 1 bit for not wanting too many people to know that.

Yup, part of the fishing routine is to toss a few casts before I crank up the boat. Many times I'll start catching right off the dock and just keep fishing there.

That was Not her fault, That was the night of the Hurricane, I had shut her voice off and was concentrating on staying on the road. Well I got that done alright just did not /could not see the exit numbers. I would have realized it when i got to Montauk.

Sorry Larry from Onancock.

I dont remember a hurricane that Morning

Your point? I, like our fearless General, actually enjoy all 4 seasons and especially love snow!!
Most folks our age look to go south to get away from the cold and snow. I used to like the snow about twenty five years ago. Now I spend most of the winter indoors.

We're quite the opposite, can't wait for snow so we can go snowshoeing. I always felt that you can add another layer of clothing, but once you're down to skin there's nothing left to remove on hot days. Nothing better than a brisk trek through the woods on snowshoes on a crisp winter day.
