New York shutters golf courses, boat launches as coronavirus deaths grow

There you go! Damn! I am glad I got the boat launched 2 weeks ago.

There is nothing there that says I can't go out on the water.

So I’m part of a private community marina. We are not a business and just an HOA that is self maintained. No way we can be told we can’t use our privately owned property. No different than having a slip or dock in your own back yard

So only the rich people who own waterfront homes can boat. Yeah, that's fair ! And I noticed that the town of Oyster Bay just put the buoys out the last few days.

rather easy for me to social distance on a solo kayak ! and its a lot more exercise than sitting on my ass in my boat !

Really shouldn't be making this a Class Warfare issue since it's not necessarily true. You should see some of the shacks and doublewides that are inhabited year round on the water up here. It's fair to say that few, if any, of the lobstermen who live on the water qualify as Wealthy or even upper Middle Class; they'll be getting a full payment of Corona Cash from the Federal Government...

IIRC, there used to be many less than opulent homes on the creeks and canals in Moriches too. A noted LI fishing author's parents had a dock on the creek in Mattituck with no house on it for many years. The patriarch worked for Brookhaven Town Road Department and after his retirement built a modest house on the property and sold the Miller Place home.
