1996 Privateer Renegade I/O to Outboard Conversion

Done with the sanding on the deck Don, got half of it primed. I worked on the modification to the cabin today, so it has a step down.

Great to hear Cappy. You know i was looking at your old pics from the beginning and was thinking. If you had a couple of old Evinrudes like you did then you would be styling !! :)

Even though I scrubbed the deck with soap and water, there were a couple of hard grease spots that I missed. When I was taping for the no-skid coat, I noticed these dark spots. The primer just scraped away and I was left with this very sticky grease. Tried simple green and acetone, no good. Brake cleaner dissolved them away. Sanded the area and painted. It seems to have done the trick.

Started work on transom gunnel. Lined up the original holes. The original must not have lined up very well because it looks like I have quite a bit of work ahead to make it look like it was all one piece. The original had the gap filled with white sealant of some type. I taped the joints and then filled with thickened epoxy with a heavy dose of chopped strand glass mixed in.

That's true ...... but I will certainly enjoy seeing it on the lift in the backyard as well! I'm sure you still get the warm fuzzies knowing a trip across your back yard is all it takes to hop on your boat.

:) (y)

Truer words have never been spoken!!!

It's a living "Life Is Good" T-shirt scene, one I hope to live out in 30 min or so if this damn wind would drop 10 kts...

Can't wait to see the final product, Grover26 just seemed to fade off into the sunset, I was really looking forward to seeing the end product.
Looking really good by the way. (y)(y)(y)

Sanding primer today ....... found a few more spots that I could add more fairing to. I'm doing my best to accept that its good enough. It helps when I think of all the dings I'll eventually put into the finish myself.
I finally made a decision and put a deposit down on the 300 Zuke. I'm going to trailer the boat down to the Eastern Shore to have the engine installed at Sandpiper Marine.

Looking good Capt!! With the loss of Ole's namesake marque, only 2 choices for us saltwater folks in the bigger pony category, and regrettably, none of them US made.

There will be dissenting opinions on this, but I'm thinking being of a "certain" age, Capt13 has had one of those "other" US-made engines during his long nautical career, and like me and just about every other person I know of that age, he has uttered THE mantra, "Never again will I purchase one of those Cheesehead Engines!!" In the interest of Political Correctness, I didn't use the other, more prominent disparaging name that many of us use for those outboards...

Been hearing great things about the Zukes so I'm sure you'll be a happy camper!!

Do we have a name yet??

Getting light out there, time to go fishing!!

300 Zuke !!! hell you'll be the first one there. I know a few guys who have the big Zukes and they love them. Are you going to leave the boat down there ?
